Miss Sixty, a Milan-based designer and manufacturer of clothing and accessories for women, opened its Santa Monica store on January 29, 2004. PBWS Architects and Giorgio Borruso & Associates collaborated on this 3,200 square foot tenant improvement project, located at 1334 Third Street Promenade. The company’s design aesthetic is based on the work of Danish designer Verner Panton, so bright color and rounded forms predominate. Red and white are featured in the casework, seating, and ceiling details, providing a dynamic setting for shoppers of this trend-setting retailer. The dressing rooms, called “camarinis”, are composed of translucent white spandex stretched taut over a stainless steel armature of concentric rings. Each camarini is suspended independently from the structure above and hung through the ceiling.
