Leland Weaver Library
PBWS provided the design and construction documents for the renovation of this existing library, which was constructed in 1970. Many of the furniture and finishes had reached the end of their useful life and were in need of replacement. The County also wanted to create a more welcoming presence in the community.
Exterior work includes a new accessible walkway, steps, and seating area with low water landscape, irrigation, and shade trees. The building is refreshed with a new color scheme and storefront entry. New monument signage consistent with the County Library’s signage program identifies the library to the community.
Interior improvements include rearrangement of reading areas, including selection of new furniture and finishes. New interior signage improves wayfinding. The design integrates new technology infrastructure, rearranges a portion of the staff work areas for better efficiency, and reconfigures the children’s and teen’s areas to accommodate modern programs.
