Celebrating the Ribbon Cutting of Laurel Grove

We were honored to join Cristian Ahumada, Executive Director & CEO of Holos Communities, Supervisor Janice Hahn of District 4, Sarah Mahin, Director of Homeless and Housing, and community partners to celebrate the grand opening of Laurel Grove, Holos Communities’ latest Project Homekey development—designed by PBWS Architects.

PBWS team members Kirstyn Bonneau, Rob Takei, and Krista Medina were proud to attend and hear directly from residents about what their new home means to them—one of the most meaningful moments of the day.

Laurel Grove transforms a former Motel 6 into 97 studio apartments for formerly homeless individuals. Design features include:

  • A pocket park open to the community, designed to foster connection and well-being.

  • A bioswale for stormwater management.

  • A greywater-supported native landscape that nurtures local habitat.

  • A citrus grove and raised garden beds, providing opportunities for on-site fresh produce and food security.

  • A “living lung” of over 100 trees that enhances the environment and supports community health.

With support from the Rivers and Mountains Conservancy and on-site services provided by Pacific Clinics, Laurel Grove sets a new standard for sustainable, inclusive housing.

Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this vision to life!
