We are excited to see our project at Daniel Webster Middle School featured as one of 10 case studies in the new book Schools That Heal: Design with Mental Health in Mind by Claire Latane from Island Press. With Studio MLA (landscape) and Barbara Hall (civil), we transformed the campus’ landscape to clean rainwater, reduce stormwater runoff, recharge aquifers, make the site accessible, and install drought-tolerant planting. While the changes help the District meet state-mandated requirements, they also serve as learning opportunities which support student health and well-being by increasing kids’ connection to the natural environment.
